The SousVide Supreme Water Oven is the first household sous-vide cooking appliance, it was launched in 2009. It was developed by Dr. Michael Eades and Mary Dan Eades of Eades Appliance Technology, LLC.

The SousVide Supreme was developed due to the increasing popularity of sous vide cooking, a technique used by some of the worlds leading chefs, which include Thomas Keller, Heston Blumenthal, Joël Robuchon, Ferran Adrià, and Charlie Trotter. Due to the expensive equipment costs (upwards of several thousand dollars), cooking sous vide has largely been inaccessible to home cooks. The SousVide Supreme delivers temperature precision within 1°F or .5°C. In 2010, the SousVide Supreme launched a number of commercials featuring one of the company's founders, Dr. Mary Dan Eades and popular Top Chef finalist Richard Blais.

SousVide Supreme also offers a variety of sous vide cooking tools such as: vacuum sealers, vacuum seal bags and zip pouches, cookbooks and accessories, spices, seasonings, sauces, and apparel. [1]

Company History

Eades Appliance Technology, LLC (EAT) was founded in 2009 by Dr. Michael Eades and Dr. Mary Dan Eades and their family. EAT is the parent company of SousVide Supreme™ and oversees all product development and operations for the brand and its award-winning line of sous vide products.[2]

EAT’s inception was driven by the Drs. Eades’ passion for healthy living and cooking. The Eades are respected doctors and nutrition experts, who have an accomplished career spanning the last three decades. The Eades have been practicing physicians, operated successful weight loss clinics throughout the U.S., written best-selling books on healthful living, owned a restaurant, hosted a cooking TV show, and now, through EAT, are spearheading the creation and development of innovative culinary products.[3]

The idea for EAT's first product, the SousVide Supreme water oven, came about all because of a pork chop. On a business trip, the Eades ordered room service and were so impressed by the pork chop, they inquired with the kitchen and learned it was prepared sous vide. After more research, the Eades became particularly interested in sous vide cooking, as they learned it was also an excellent way to prepare healthful meals. Wanting to cook sous vide themselves at home, the Eades quickly learned there were no affordable, countertop solutions that made sous vide cooking accessible to everyone, so they set out to create one.
